Peanut’s first trip to the beach!! August 14, 2011. 11 weeks 6 days!

On August 3, 2011 we got to see our little peanut for the first time. And let me tell you, that was one active kid. During the entire ultrasound he/she was kicking everywhere, throwing its hands all over the place and moving it’s little head everywhere! (Although it’s head is still kinda big compared to it’s body right now, so maybe ‘little’ isn’t the best way to describe it.) It’s impossible to even begin to describe how we both felt seeing our baby and watching it move. It’s heart rate was 173! Since it is so active, I think it’s going to be a girl. We both want a boy, but we will be happy either way, of course. Oh and after measuring the baby they changed my due date from February 17 to February 27, so I was 10 weeks 2 days along during the ultrasound. I want it to stay in there till Feb 29 so it will be leap year baby! Joshua wasn’t as fond of that idea, but when it get’s closer to time I’m just going to tell peanut to stay in there a couple extra days for mommy:)

This is how I found out I would be a mommy!

Joshua’s surprise is inside the bag…

…And I do think he was quite surprised

when
he pulled this out. Lol.

Let’s Play Catch Up

Exactly one month ago today, June 25, 2011, my life (and Joshua’s) changed forever. This was the day that we learned that we would be parents. I never understood how women, especially those who had never been pregnant before, could say they “knew” they were pregnant before they took a test, but now I do. You just know. I think I just kept putting off taking a test because, in my head, if I didn’t physically see the results it wouldn’t be true. When I finally took the first test and the results instantly popped up, I think the world stood still for a little bit. When I took the second test, I think it finally hit me, but still I was kind of in shock. I couldn’t wait for Josh to get home from work. I was so happy when he walked through that door, just so I could hug him. When the shock wore off, I think we both became a little more excited.

I called that Monday and made an appointment with the health department to confirm the results. They confirmed on that Friday that I was 7 weeks pregnant. Even then I’m not sure that it felt real. Then came the process of getting pregnancy medicaid and WIC and choosing a doctor. Our first actual visit at the OB’s office was this morning. Today we just went over the preliminary things, like blood work, going over both our medical histories, how the appointments will work, do’s and dont’s and such. She said that the baby is due on February 17, 2012 and as of today I am 10 weeks and 3 days along. We have an ultrasound next Wednesday and I absolutely cannot wait to see our sweet little baby for the first time!
